Well, it’s 20 to 5 in the morning so what should I be doing? Sleep? Hell no… I’ve been tinkering with the website and added 3 minor improvements. Many of you would ask me “WHY??” and my answer is simple…. to see if I could do it or not.
The first is the short tagline that is displayed just below the website title at the top of every page. Instead of the old boring static version, it is now dynamic and will swap between 6 different (and incredibly witty…. *ahem*) slogans. Pointless? Yes.
The second is slightly more useful to anybody who likes to peruse my photo galleries. I have re-added the slideshow functionality from the old Cavaye.Com site. Now when you click on a gallery you have the option to “Start Slideshow” at the top of the page. This will launch a slideshow of the gallery you’re looking at. There is also a “Start Slideshow” and “Stop Slideshow” button above each picture when it is viewed in full. If anyone actually tries this feature out, can you let me know what you think of the period of time each image is shown for? It’s hard for me to judge how long it should be.
The third update is also quite good, but some of you might not notice it. In the past as you went through a picture gallery by clicking “Next” or as the slideshow moves on, the image would load after the page has come up. I have now set the pictures to preload in the background so that the pictures should show up much faster when you move through them (unless you’re moving through them backwards for some reason…). It’s a minor touch, but it is quite noticeable now that the slideshow is working again.
As for Australia updates…. I think I have everything sorted and ready to go, although I have not physically packed anything. Due to the harsh weight limits I can only take vital stuff, which also means all the stuff I want to take I am still using on a day to day basis; last minute packing job it is then! 😀
Looking forward to seeing everybody for some drinks on Friday night. Will be emotional!
