Yay for being productive! After one failed trip into town (I forgot everything I needed and had bad news from the Three store) – I finally managed to open myself a bank account and buy myself a new phone. Then I got to take the (pretty cool) city cat ferry-cum-bus thing that people here use to get places that are along the river. Ended up in the new lab and met the guys there which was all great.
The place looks quite different in the daylight. I’ve already managed to see a few spiders bigger than any others i’ve seen before. The thing that hit me most was how tropical it looks. There’s palm trees and stuff everywhere, big colourful birds, and the crickets are crazy loud all day & night. Don’t know why I’m shocked really – this place feels humid enough to be a rainforest and it’s bloody hot too. Haha.
Somehow managed to avoid getting wet today. There were at least 3 or 4 very heavy downpours but luckily they didn’t last long and all of my travelling was done in between them. Let’s hope I am as lucky tomorrow (the forecast for the forseeable future is all rain!).
